On this day last year, Barbara Boxer dressed down a brigadier general during a committee hearing, demanding that he call her "senator" because she had "worked so hard to get that title."

• In 1999, Senator Boxer voted against supplemental appropriations for troops in Kosovo.
• In 2001, she voted against providing $847 million in funding to the Department of Defense for military personnel, mission-critical maintenance and force protection.
• In 2003, Boxer was one of just 12 senators who opposed the $87 billion supplemental appropriation for the reconstruction of Iraq and Afghanistan. Included in that package were additional funds for everything from Family Medical Leave Act benefits for military families to communications equipment to body armor for soldiers.
